Financial Assistance Programs

The Rural Transportation Association (RTA) is administering a grant program to provide Community Transit Operators (CTOs) across Nova Scotia with funding to subsidize fares for those who may face financial barriers to accessing essential services.
The Nova Scotia Department of Public Works, through the Fare Assistance Program (FAP), is providing the funding for this program.
Fare Assistance Program Guidelines
- Who is eligible: A single person making less than $37,000 per year, or a couple/family making less than $57,000 per year.
- Recording eligibility: All riders must complete a paper application form and sign a declaration that they meet the eligibility requirements of the program. All applications are subject to approval.
- Funding limits: Funding is limited, and once the funds are depleted, the program will close.
